Good news for our animal loving fashionistas: Free People has just launched a new vegan leather collection! Although these two ideas do not normally coexist, Free People has discovered a way to provide customers with trendsetting products that will not compromise their cruelty-free values. The promotional video for this collection explains it in these terms, “you get a similar look and feel to real leather, but vegan leather is not made from animals, it is made from synthetic materials.” Their designers have created 4 pieces that can be purchased on their website and are available within an affordable price range ($98-$168). Currently, this is serving as a test project and depending on the reaction they receive from buyers, vegan leather products may enter into their permanent product rotation.

Their associate buyer states, “I love vegan leather because it gives the environmentally conscious person an option that’s still fashionable and wont cost you an arm and a leg.” In essence, vegan leather presents the best of both worlds, allowing you to guiltlessly incorporate leather pieces into your wardrobe at a fraction of the price.
